ACING YOUR HOLIDAY HOSTING DUTIES

It’s a busy time of year and if the shuffle of social events, shopping, and sending holiday cheer weren’t enough, if it’s your year to host Christmas, you may find yourself with a home full of houseguests. If this sounds familiar and holiday hosting is one of many responsibilities you’ve taken on this year, consider adding a few festive touches to up your welcome game!

ENSUITE TOUCHES
1. Up the cozy factor. We used Boll & Branch flannel sheets this season and didn’t skimp on the luxe layers with crisp white duvets and warm waffle blankets. A cable knit throw completed the look.
2. Place a tree in the bedroom. There’s nothing like falling asleep or waking up to the glow of a beautifully trimmed tree, especially since the days leading up to the holiday are some of the darkest and most drab… #wintersolstice
3. Create a warm beverage station. An electric kettle with a selection of teas and instant cocoa makes for a private place to gather oneself in the afternoon hours or upon rising before other family members. Don’t forget Gather & Serve’s amazing selection of mugs and tumblers!
4. Provide gift wrapping supplies. If your guests have traveled by air and arrive with gifts to wrap, they may ask for scissors, paper, and tape. Do them a favor by adding an assortment of gift wrap to the room and letting them know it’s theirs to use if needed.

GUEST EXPERIENCE TIPS
5. Ensure adequate space for luggage. A low stool easily doubles as a place to set a duffel bag or small suitcase. We’re favorites of this one from Sun at Six.
6. Stock their preferred basics. Will one of your guests require a non-dairy milk for their morning coffee? Is a gluten-free friend staying overnight? Ensure that you’ve added some essential items that accommodate their dietary needs so they feel right at home.
7. Set expectations. The holidays can be a lot of stimulus for some people, so ensure that your guests know exactly what you’re expecting of them before they arrive. This way everyone can map out the time together accordingly.
