2018 TREND WATCH
With the New Year upon us, it’s time to look forward and start diving into the goals we aspire to accomplish. We all want change, and we all strive to be a better version of ourselves at the beginning of every year. We set goals, reflect on our successes and try to understand our shortcomings so we set ourselves up for a triumphant new year.
And while this period of self reflection is necessary, don’t forget to reflect on how your home can help kickstart an ambitious year. Your home is not only your sanctuary but also the place where all this self reflecting manifestation takes place, and it needs to feel special, comfortable and safe.
As you’re working on finalizing your New Year’s Resolutions, take a good look around your home to see what you’d like to update, upgrade, donate or sell. There are a few trends we’re leaving behind in 2017, and new ones we’re excited to see more of in 2018. With so many fabulous trends the horizon, we’re thrilled to see what this year has in store!
Three trends coming in hot.
Curvy Furniture: 70s inspired decor is making a comeback with curvy furniture that liven up any room. From circular swiveling chairs, to shapely sofas, plush cushions and sloped mirrors you’ll find furniture and interior designers embracing curves this year.
Moody Palettes: With Ultra Violet as Pantone’s Color of the Year, we’re embracing moody and majestic jewel tones for the home. Expect to see more vivid velvet sofas, accent pillows and throws in 2018 that embrace dramatic and bold colors like Deep Royal Purple and Emerald Green.
Bold Floral Prints: Continuing with the majestic theme, bold floral prints will be a huge hit for accent furniture in the new year. Mixing florals with a variety of textures and neutral palettes will make any room look elegant and appealing. So go ahead and purchase that round swivel chair with floral print fabric and a velvet accent pillow and you’ll be considered the trendsetter of your friends group at your next social soirée.
Three trends that need an update.
Plain White Marble: Say goodbye to your beloved white marble and make room for darker stones. Black marble will be the stone of the year in 2018. Darker stones pair nicely with a deep color palette, and give off a very luxurious vibe. If black marble is a little too dark and dramatic for your home, then opt in for any kind of marble that has a little personality – think grainier and colorful marble that isn’t just white.
Rose Gold Accents: Rose Gold made a little comeback last year, but we’re bidding farewell to this finish and looking for more earthier copper accents. The rich red and orange tones of copper create a classy finish on any accent lamp or side tables.
Painted Accent Walls: Gone are the days where you paint one wall a different color than the others to make your room pop. This year we’re making room for wallpapered accent walls with bold patterns, vivid colors and that come in a variety of textures.
